ESIC BANS CHEATING PLAYER FOR TWO YEARS

The esports Integrity Coalition (ESIC) has banned Joao Paulo de Araujo (“Ecstasy”), a Crossfire player, from all esports for 2 years from 8 September 2017 to 10 September
2019.

Mr de Araujo admitted that he cheated using a DDoS attack. As a result of his confession, the Integrity Commissioner was entitled, under the ESIC Code of Conduct and the Disciplinary Procedure, to offer Mr de Araujo a plea bargain, which Mr Araujo accepted meaning a full hearing of the matter was not necessary.

Esports Integrity Commissioner Ian Smith said, “Cheating cannot be tolerated in esports – it fundamentally undermines the integrity and credibility of our industry. I hope this incident demonstrates that ESIC will deal quickly, decisively and proportionately with cheats following
a fair process.”

ESIC will make no further comment on this issue.
